As a provider of Website hosting, and other Internet-related services, Gowtz offers its members (customers), and their customers and users, the means to acquire and disseminate a wealth of public, private, commercial, and non-commercial information. Gowtz respects that the Internet gives everyone a forum for free and open discussion and dissemination of information. However, when there are competing interests at issue, Gowtz reserves the right to take certain preventative or corrective actions.
In order to protect the interests of everyone involved, Gowtz has developed an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), which is intended as a guide to the members’ rights and obligations when utilizing Gowtz’s servers. This AUP will be revised from time to time. A member’s use of the Gowtz servers after changes to the AUP and are posted on our website, will constitute the customer’s acceptance of any new or additional terms of the AUP that result from those changes.
One important aspect of the Internet is freedom. No one party owns or controls it. This fact accounts for much of the Internet’s value, but it also places a high premium on the judgment and responsibility of those who use the Internet, both in the information they acquire and in the information they disseminate to others.
Gowtz does not, in any way, monitor or take responsibility for any information posted by members using it’s servers. When members place information on the Internet, they have the same liability as other authors for copyright infringement, defamation, and other harmful speech. Also, because the information members create is placed on the Gowtz servers and may reach a large number of people, members’ postings to the Internet may affect members and may harm Gowtz’s business reputation, goodwill, and operations. For these reasons, members violate the Gowtz Acceptable Use Policy when they, their customers, or posters engage in the following prohibited activities:
- Adult Natured Sites: Gowtz does not host adult sites. The following are strictly prohibited:
- Sites containing material considered pornographic or links to such adult content
- Advertisements for adult sites
- Sex-related merchandising
- Photos or videos showing nudity on either men or women or children for non-scientific or non-artistic purposes.
- Gowtz reserves the right to decide what it considers “pornographic”, “adult content”, or “adult sites”. If you are not sure whether your site complies with our policy we strongly advise you to contact us.
- Intellectual Property Violations: Engaging in any activity that infringes the intellectual property rights of others, including copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, software piracy, and patents is not permitted. Gowtz is required by law to remove or block access to customer content upon receipt of a proper notice of copyright infringement. It is also Gowtz’s policy to terminate the privileges of members who are repeat offenders.
- Obscenity: Using Gowtz servers to advertise, transmit, store, post, display, or otherwise make available obscene speech or material will not be permitted.
- Defamatory or Abusive Language: Using Gowtz’s network as a means to transmit or post defamatory, harassing, abusive, or threatening language will not be permitted.
- Distribution of Internet Viruses, Worms, Trojan Horses, or Other Destructive Activities: Distributing information regarding the creation of and sending Internet viruses, worms, Trojan horses, pinging, flooding, mail bombing, or denial of service attacks is not permitted. Also, activities that disrupt the use of or interfere with the ability of others to effectively use the network or any connected network, system, service, or equipment will be stopped.
- Other Activities: Engaging in activities, whether lawful or unlawful, that Gowtz determines to be harmful to its subscribers, operations, reputation, goodwill, or customer relations will not be permitted.
